With a beautiful view of greater San Dimas, the dog park in Horsethief Canyon Park is open from “dawn to dusk.”
A result of hard work and planning by the City Council, the Parks and Recreation Commission and staff, as well as valuable input from residents, the one-acre dog park includes two separately fenced areas designated for large and small dogs, as well as doggy water fountains. This unique grassy area allows our 4-legged friends to socialize and exercise in a safe environment while legally running free of restricting leashes. It also provides elderly and disabled owners with an appropriate place to exercise their companions.
Please note that the dog park is closed for maintenance on alternating Wednesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Maintenance workers also spend a few minutes each morning emptying the trash receptacles within the dog park, and we ask that dog owners please leash their dogs as a courtesy during that brief period of time. The workers shouldn't have to wonder whether or not a dog is friendly.
UPDATE: The dog park is closed during and after rain. The City of San Dimas Parks & Recreation Department will remove the lock from the gate only when it is felt the dog park is ready for foot traffic. Until that time, the facility is not open to the public.
A Warm Welcome
